Effective IT is critical to the achievement of overall government objectives. As the Corporate Chief Strategist, Samantha lead the alignment of IT strategy, policy and governance with government priorities and directions. Samantha directed transformative, IT-enabled change to government business, while simultaneously generating cost-savings and efficiencies and driving innovative solutions. She set the strategic directions in the federated I&IT organization within the Ontario government, supported implementation and control, provided advice to Management Board of Cabinet and Treasury Board, managed the enterprise architecture and reference models and prepared the annual IT report. During her tenure, Samantha delivered key initiatives including the Ontario news room (the Ontario government’s online news distribution portal), the infrastructure stimulus tracking portal (open data and analytical visualizations on the $33B infrastructure spend), Ontario taxes online (a $135M, 6 year major IT project) and launched one of the first public sector telework pilots. Samantha also oversaw significant increases in employee engagement and client satisfaction, with employee engagement up to 74% from 66% and Internal Business Client Satisfaction survey results of: 2008=49%, 2009=58%, 2010=78%.
