From 2009-2014 I was President of Computech, Inc. Our goal is to help organizations perform better by building and managing IT applications with discipline, efficiency and effectiveness. We call our approach Agile O&M(R) and it is proven to significantly increase value delivered and customer satisfaction while driving down cost. Having introduced Agile to our clients in 2009 and Kanban in 2012, we led the adoption of rational software delivery methods into Federal IT. Our work was recognized by a number of awards. My teams innovated stream search engine, enterprise-scale text services integration, automated classification/summarization and text analysis, augmented query systems, and personalized/social search. Worked, no played, with some of the smartest/accomplished people I've ever met. Personal LIbrary Software CTO 1987 - 1995 (8 years) Led the development of the CPL text engine. For its time, it was a world class information retrieval system that pioneered many scale-up, scale-out, and statistical search technologies. It was used successfully by many businesses, such as, publishers like Dow Jones, onlines like AOL, and OEMs like Apple. Designed and delivered many industry firsts, such as, real-time updatable, 2pc transactions, first cd-rom (on Windows, too, and MSFT said it couldn't be done), compressed index, multi-byte charsets, first "large model" MS-Windows app (and MSFT said it couldn't be done). Many of the techniques invented and used are just becoming commonplace for Big Data. Worked with some great people, had some awesome customers. National Library of Medicine Programmer August 1983 - August 1987 (4 years 1 month) At Lister Hill Center, wrote text engines used by biomedical informatics projects such as Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man (OMIM); wrote bio- sequence analysis algorithms; contributed to chemical substances information fusion workstation.
